Red Eléctrica del Sur
Red Eléctrica del Sur S.A. is the company that provides electricity transmission services in the south of Peru designed at 220 kV, 138 kV and 66 kV voltage levels in the departments of Arequipa, Moquegua, Tacna and Puno (reaching a maximum altitude of 4,677 m.a.s.l.), a concession granted by the Ministry of Energy and Mines in 1999 for a period of 30 years.
In addition, in 2005, it obtained the concession to manage the telecommunications network in the departments where the company is present, making it the first electricity operator in Peru to access the telecommunications market through the commercial exploitation of the surplus fibre optic cables installed in the transmission networks.
Transmission lines
- Moquegua - Tacna 220 kV transmission line:
Covers mountain and coastal zones, with a total length of approximately 124.34 m, of which 24.68 km correspond to the mountains, and 99.66 km to the coast. The line starts and ends at elevations of 1,290 and 645 m.s.l., respectively, with the highest point on the route at 1,425 m.s.l., with this line considered to be coastal. - Socabaya - Moquegua 220 kV transmission line:
Covers mountain zones, with a total length of approximately 106.74 m. The line starts and ends at elevations of 2,382 and 1,290 m.s.l., respectively, with the highest point on the route at 3,321 m.s.l. - Puno - Moquegua 220kV transmission line:
Covers mountain zones, with a total length of approximately 196.62 m. The line starts and ends at elevations of 4,127 and 1,290 m.s.l., respectively, with the highest point on the route at 4,677 m.s.l.
Substations
- Socabaya substation (expansion)
Located in the Umapalca zone, Socabaya district, Arequipa province, Arequipa region.This substation consists of an expansion of the 220 kV busbars with a double busbar configuration with transfer switch. This busbar is shared with the company Consorcio Transmantaro and the mining company Cerro Verde.
- Moquegua substation (expansion)
Located in Montalvo, Moquegua province, Moquegua region. The 220 kV busbar system is a double busbar configuration with coupling cubicle, with the 220 kV busbar, four line cells and the busbar coupling cubicle corresponding to REDESUR, and two line cells and two transformer cells to ENERSUR. - Puno substation (expansion)
Located in the town of Totorani, Yanamayo district, Puno province, Puno region. - Los Héroes substation (Tacna)
Located in the town of Alto de la Alianza, Tacna province, Tacna region. This substation is connected to the Moquegua substation by the Moquegua - Tacna line.

In accordance with Ministerial Resolution No. 223-2010-MEM/DM, Article 6 of Legislative Decree No. 1500, and OFICIO No. 0295-2023-MINEM/DGAAE, RED ELECTRICA DEL SUR S.A. is pleased to make available to the general public the Detailed Environmental Plan (PAD) for the "2030 Moquegua - Puno Transmission Line and 220 kV Associated Substations." This plan has been developed to ensure the proper location of towers and access roads, as well as the suitability of facilities within the Puno substation.

- Provinces: Puno, General Sanchez Cerro, and Mariscal Nieto.
- Departments: Puno and Moquegua.
The Detailed Environmental Plan is open for public access and can be accessed at the: General Directorate of Environmental Affairs for Electricity (DGAAE) of the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM). Interested parties can request a copy of the Detailed Environmental Plan from the DGAAE of the MINEM in accordance with the Single Revised Text of Law No. 27806 on Transparency and Access to Public Information.
